The Institutional
Animal Care and Use Committee at Harvard Medical School
and the affiliated institutions and schools is called
the Standing Committee on Animals. All use of
animals in teaching and research is restricted to specific
uses and experimental procedures described in an Animal
Experimentation Protocol (AEP) that is approved
by the Faculty Standing Committee on Animals. All
use of animals at Harvard Medical School must be described
in an application that is submitted to this committee
approval process. Animals may not be purchased or housed
at Harvard without protocol approval from the Standing
Committee.
