Advice on the use of hazardous materials may be obtained from the Harvard University Department of Environmental Health and Safety.

The use of infectious microbiological materials in animals or the laboratory must be done in accordance with protocols approved by the Committee on Microbiological Safety.

An animal facility designed and operated for the safe research use of BL2-N designated projects involving micriobiological pathogens is available in the Longwood area.

Research projects involving viral gene vectors that are approved at BL2-Ni (for injection) must follow the standard procedures for their use in animal facilities managed as BL1-N facilities.
